About the Event

On behalf of the Medical Training Consultancy, we are pleased to invite you to Advanced Echo Conference. This event highlights new techniques and gives attendees an overview of major topics in echocardiography including structural and valvular heart disease, new imaging technologies, the role of echo in clinical practice and guidance for structural heart interventions, as well as a focus on innovations.

The program will include lectures from leading experts in the field, case presentations with panel discussions, live/recorded cases, a review of ongoing and future studies and training sessions.

Hisham Dokainish

Dr. Dokainish completed Medical school at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He then completed Internal Medicine and Cardiology Residences at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, followed by Echocardiography Fellowship in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Dr. Dokainish was hired on faculty in the Division of Cardiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, USA in 2002 where he remained 7 years, and served as Director of Echocardiography at Baylor College of Medicine for the last 3 years. Dr. Dokainish was recruited back to McMaster University/Hamilton Health Sciences in October 2009 as Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Echocardiography and now also serves as Director of Medical Diagnostic Units and Director of Heart Failure Services at Hamilton Health Sciences. His research interests include echocardiography in the assessment of heart failure, valve disease, cardiac hemodynamics and myocardial function. He was also Principal Investigator of an international heart failure registry named INTER-CHF, and is currently co-PI of G-CHF, a global heart failure study of 25,000 patients in every inhabited continent. Dr. Dokainish has published over 80 peer reviewed scientific articles and 11 book chapters, mainly in the areas of echocardiography and heart failure.

Lyna El- Khoury Rumbarger

Lyna El-Khoury Rumbarger is the founder of EDUCARDIUM; an international cardiovascular education provider and the former Chair of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) where she taught and managed the program for 9 years.

Lyna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Chemistry from the Lebanese American University (LAU) and a graduate certificate in Cardiac Sonography from the Institute of Allied Medical Professions at Columbia University Medical Center in New York. She has been a cardiac sonographer and mentor for over 30 years. She trained at Columbia University Medical Center where she held clinical and research positions for 20 years and co-authored many publications relating to 3D Echocardiography and Diastolic Heart Failure. She simultaneously taught at the New York University Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program for 14 years.

Lyna previously served on the Society for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) Conference Management Committee and is currently a Congenital Heart Disease Subject Matter Expert for Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and a member of the RCCS exam committee. Lyna is also a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE) involved in cardiovascular educator activities.

She is an international speaker and a credentialed Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) and Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS).

Dr Walid Gharzuddine finished his residency and fellowship at the American University of Beirut, where he currently holds the position of a cardiologist, Assistant Professor. His clinical Interests are in valvular and pericardial heart diseases. He is specialized in Transthoracic Echocardiography 2D and 3D, Transesophageal echo, Stress Echocardiography, and Coronary Angiography.
Dr. Gharzuddine was the previous chair of Echo Working Group of the LSC (Lebanese Society of Cardiology)

Dr. Julia Grapsa

Dr. Julia Grapsa is a Staff Physician at Cleveland Clinic. She previously served as a consultant cardiologist in London and as a clinical senior lecturer at Imperial College of London. She is past chair of the young community of imaging, in the European Association of cardiovascular imaging. Furthermore, she is the task force lead for ESC clinical case gallery and a committee member of online education of Heart Failure Association. She has had extensive training in advanced imaging and heart failure and has worked at Imperial College NHS trust, Royal Brompton Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Hatem A. Soliman is a Senior Clinical fellow, Adult Invasive Care at
The Royal Brompton & Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, London with main interest being critical care echocardiography and ultrasound-guided interventions. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians in UK, American Board of Echocardiography, and the EACVI ambassador for UAE, in the young community. Furthermore, he is SCCM Ultrasound Course Instructor. He performed training in critical care medicine at the University of Alexandria, Egypt between 2005 and 2008.

Dr. Savvas Loizos is a specialist Cardiologist, Clinical Fellow in Imaging at Barts Heart Center in London. He previously worked as a perioperative and critical care echocardiography imaging fellow at Royal Brompton Hospital and as an imaging fellow at Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial College NHS Trust in London.
He completed his PhD in imaging and vascular surgery focusing on carotid atherosclerotic disease at Imperial College of London.
He is serving as EACVI ambassador for the young community (HIT) and his main interests are echocardiography, perioperative imaging, CMR and CT.
